Geometric Pencil Cup

My desk at work has been in serious need of a little “flair” (terrible word choice, I know). I work in cubicle-land, which can be quite uninspiring to say the least. I made this little pencil cup over the weekend, and I was so excited to bring it to work and put it in it’s proper place on my desk (it’s the little things in life). This project was so easy, and chances are good you already have everything you need to make one of your own.

Supplies for Cardboard Pencil cupyou’ll need:

  • chip board
  • x-acto knife
  • ruler
  • scissors
  • glue
  • paint
to make it:

01.  Download and print the template. (I printed the template at 200% the original size – but you can choose to make it larger or smaller if you’d like)

cardboard geometric shape02.  Using the template as a guide, cut your chip board on the solid lines and score on the dotted lines.

cardboard pencil holder cardboard geometric prism03.  Fold the board along the scored lines and glue the tabs in place.

  1. LOVE this!!! Funny, I was just thinking about ways you could spruce up your cubicle, but it looks like you’re way ahead of me! I love the colors you chose too. I want to try to make this as a sculpture for my bookcase. Thanks for the inspiration!!

One step ahead of you :) I’m loving all the geometric shapes lately. The cardboard is fun because it’s so easy, and once it’s painted it doesn’t really look like cardboard.

  2. This is so awesome! Love the shape and colors.
